Goodbye Corolla, old friend

The corolla, while it could be fixed, is no longer worth fixing in Ontario. If it were in Nova Scotia, where emissions tests are as common as the Great Auk, someone would probably fix it and drive it for another while. However, since it is in Ontario, and not moving without a truck attached to it, a junk yard may be our poor rolla's next home. It did it's job well. We got it with 250,000kms or so, and drove it for 4 years. We drove it before this too, while we were teenagers, but we weren't the owners then. It really is too bad these things don't last forever.

On a brighter note, we have a new car now. We got a 2007 Honda Civic, and are quite happy with it. Amanda's long drive to work should be safer and more enjoyable this year!

Here is a picture I took the other day. Amanda and I think the picture is a little lame because it looks like a stock photo, but it's all I have.

I put some wire mesh just inside the front grill, because I have read about other civic owners having problems with the air conditioner condenser, which sits just inside the front grill, getting damaged by road debris. Apparently, Honda doesn't think it is something that should be covered by warranty. The wire mesh was $5 at home depot, and I found it in the flooring section. If anyone knows what the heck it is used for, please enlighten me. Here are some pictures of my wire mesh grill job (thanks for the help, Dad and Tim).

It wasn't too hard to get in there, but wasn't too easy either. Luckily, Tim got put in the most uncomfortable positions.

We're starting our second drive to Cape Breton this Sunday, so it seems we'll be putting a few thousand kms on our new car, just for fun. Hopefully we'll see lots of you while we're down there!
