During my busy month, I did manage to get out bird banding a few times, and even went to Mt. Nemo conservation area for rockclimbing and caving with Josh, Scott, Tim and my dad. I didn't do any rockclimbing, but I did take some pictures. Here are a few.
My claustrophobic father, laughing nervously while he squeezes into a cave.

Dad, still laughing nervously as he finds his way through the cave.

Dad, laughing nervously again as he rapels down the cliff. I should note that I would have been doing the same thing, but I didn't give in to peer pressure as easily as he did.

Timmy rappelling.

Scott posing. Josh rappelled too, but wouldn't pose for me.

Tim climbing.

Scott climbing.

Scott, just about to reach the top of the climb.

Josh climbing. I didn't get many good pictures of Josh, because there was a huge number of flying insects around. They hovered at the top of the cliff for a while, and then rained down on our heads in pairs. Apparently, it was a copulatory swarm.

Scott, looking off the escarpment.

I've had a few experiences with Great Horned Owls lately. This summer in Cape Breton Jeff Tickner and I spend a few evenings sitting in my car by some woods playing a recording of a Great Horned Owl, hoping to draw a response. We got none. Over the past month at home, however, I have heard a Great Horned Owl from my yard on several nights, and an Eastern Screech Owl on one night. I heard one early one morning at the bird banding station, and Amanda and I heard one while we were walking a couple nights ago. However, I have yet to see one in the wild. They are kind of hard to find. So I was happy to get a chance to take a picture of one at a bird show at Mountsberg Conservation area the other day. They let me get pretty close too.

Amanda and I went apple picking on Thanksgiving weekend. We went a little later this year than we did last year, but we found out that was ok because the apples are cheaper when you go late!

My parents recently decided that Thanksgiving with the family is getting old, so they went on a cruise this year for Thanksgiving. We managed to take care of ourselves fairly well though, or perhaps I should say Ashley took care of us fairly well. Ashley cooked a Turkey at my parent's place, and Jamie Whyte, Ash & Matt, Amy, Time, and Amanda & I had dinner together this past Sunday.

Why wear shirts at Thanksgiving dinner?

It absolutely poured after we ate, so we put on our suits and went for a swim! The pool is still 75 degrees or so, and the humidex outside on Sunday was in the 30s. Crazy weather.

A few of the more immature people went for a run down the street.

Amanda and I did do some hiking on Thanksgiving weekend too, but we didn't go anywhere really exciting, and I didn't take any pictures. It was a fun & relaxing weekend, which was nice.
Finally, I have what some bittersweet news: the corolla is officially gone. I sold it to a scrap yard for $200. When the guy came to pick it up, it wouldn't move. Both axles had seized, and wouldn't even budge when he dragged the car around the driveway. I'm glad I don't own it anymore! I made another $50 on the stereo and speakers, so we made $250 on the whole thing. Not so bad I suppose--I wouldn't pay $250 for it!

The final tally for the Corolla.

hey guys, your pics look awesome! i just had to post to say that those pictures of your dad in that cave almost made me throw up. i cannot think of anything that would scare me more than that. except for maybe if there were giant tarantulas in there too. so freaky!

RIP Toyota Crayola. :)
There were some spiders in there, but they certainly weren't tarantulas
Great pics! Love the climbing ones especially.
Bye-bye Corolla...
